[UPDATED] MoKee Multi-Window!

UPDATED VIDEO REVIEW

Smartphones with HUGE displays are pretty common these days. Except Apple, all the other OEMs across all the platforms have pushed smartphone displays to 5+ inches through-out 2013. But not all of them managed to optimize the software for this particular change in hardware. Samsung debuted the note line-up (& the so called phablet category) back in 2011 and ever since then Samsung has remained the undisputed King in the phablet arena. So what really makes the note line-up stand out from the rest? The software optimizations!

Not entirely going into the details of note-optimized Touchwiz Ux, let's focus on one particular feature from this software suit : Multi-window! This feature enabled note users to run two apps simultaneously in the foreground and made better use of the bigger screen. Needless to say, it became quite famous in no time and was a must-have feature in every Samsung based custom rom for all the sammy devices.

Earlier this year, we came across Project Omni, an AOSP-CM based custom rom but with Samsung's multi-window feature. They called it the split view! And with the release of KitKat, Omni team added support for our beloved S2. But like I mentioned in my review of the Omni Rom, we'll still have to wait to show off the famous mulit-window feature as the rom is in its early stages of development. Disappointed? Don't be! Mokee Rom is here. Try it out today if you can't wait to use multi-window on an AOSP based rom!

Coming to the rom itself, its also an AOSP-CM based custom 4.4.2 rom & unlike others, it comes with quite a few customization options. Take a look!

The initial impressions are great and it may have to do with the fact that the appearance is fresh despite no major change in the KitKat UI. Really loved the bootanimation! The developers have paid great attention to details and there are many welcome features in the rom which aren't HUGE but come in handy in day to day use. As I said earlier, the rom comes with quite a few customization options and more will be added in future. You can always install xposed framework though and take modding to the next level!

Let's take a look at some of the system apps now. Camera and Camcorder are both functional and you can enjoy shooting 720p and 1080p videos at 30 fps with stereo recording. All the usual connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G (HSPA+) are fully functional. Turning our focus towards some of the most useful and famous user apps, I am happy to report that ad-blocking apps like AdAway are working and so is Titanium Backup. Although I'd advise you not to restore your app data and system data using Titanium Backup. Last but certainly not the least, the rom supports OTA (Over-The-Air) updates so can save yourself the trouble of downloading each build from your PC and booting into the recovery and flashing it manually every single time. The phone will do all that for you just at the tap of a button! Additionally it supports incremental updates as well. Watch my video review below to see what it actually means. Personally, I prefer the "incremental updates" feature to "OTA".
